EPFL LauzHack Swisscom Challenge Winner
In December 2023, Carmen Marcos and I took on Swisscom’s challenge at LauzHack, the yearly hackathon held at EPFL in Lausanne. The goal was to help customers find answers faster, using a system that pulls answers straight from Swisscom’s public website.
In a 24-hour sprint we built Lauzcom Assistant, a customisable chatbot that can be trained on any data, so it can be pointed at any company’s catalogue instead of Swisscom’s. It runs on a self-hosted language model or on OpenAI’s GPT models, with a Python backend, a React and TypeScript frontend, MongoDB, Redis and Docker. It won Swisscom’s challenge.
The same weekend, Giuseppe Steduto and Petar Stojković, who were originally on our team, won Swissquote’s challenge.
